Emmanuel Macron’s backroom deal with socialists prevented Marine Le Pen’s right-wing party from winning seats in parliament, despite receiving the most popular votes.

The socialist New Popular Front was awarded the most seats (currently projected by Le Monde at 182) even though it received 1.7-million fewer votes than Le Pen’s National Rally party.

Macron won an estimated 168 seats, and despite coming in first in terms of votes, Le Pen was given third place with 143 seats. 

The final tally is the result of what is being called the “alliance of dishonour” between Macron and the far left that blocked Le Pen from gaining a majority despite winning the most votes.

“This changes everything,” said an observer, “it wasn’t the French vote that affected the outcome, it was dirty politics.”

In the U.S., MAGA supporters compared the results to the 2020 election and said they are concerned the Democrats will try and do the same dirty tricks in the upcoming election in November.

It wasn’t exactly a win for the elitist Macron but the annoying little man is still there. The election leaves the French parliament split between the left, Macron’s ccntrists, and the far right, each party with huge differences and no plan to work together.

Macron’s term runs until 2027 and he said he will stay in power regardless of the outcome of the snap election he called last month.

After last week’s huge left-wing victory in Britain, the only country in Europe that took a step in the right direction is Italy with the election in 2022 of Right Wing Georgia Meloni, the country’s first female prime minister.
