DEATH OF A PATRIOT

The country superstar, who died of stomach cancer on Monday, February 5, at the age of 62, gave three sold-out concerts in Las Vegas just two months before his death.

The concerts were billed as his ‘triumphant return to the stage’ — but they would be his last.

‘Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family,’ read a post on his social media site. ‘He fought his fight with grace and courage.’

The singer, songwriter, philanthropist was best known for his hit songs ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy’, ‘How Do You Like Me Now?!’ and ‘Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)’.

“In the end he was just tired,” said the Hall of Fame quarterback.

The former Green Bay Packer said Toby told him not long before his death, “Brett, whatever happens, I’m OK with it.”

Toby is survived by his wife of four decades, Tricia Covel; their three children, Shelley, Krystal and Stelen; and their grandchildren.
