Tough guys are cool

Not a tough guy

Tough guys are cool

When fate robs you of your father and your older brother at the age of eleven and you live the next ten years with just your mother, it’s inevitable you end up being a mama’s boy.

And when you leave home to make your own way in the world you mature (I use the word loosely) into a ladies man. You were never a man’s man. Macho bullshit bores you — except when you watch Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood in those tough-guy movies. You enjoy watching them because you wish you were a tough guy, but know you never could be. You’re more like the Leslie Howard character in the 1936 film, ‘The Petrified Forest.’
