‘Nurse Ratched’ has died

Louise Fletcher who played cold, heartless Nurse Ratched in the Academy Award winning movie One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest died on Friday in her home in France. She was 88.

Her character in the 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson was named the fifth-greatest villain in film history by the American Film Institute, and second-greatest villainess, behind ‘Wicked Witch Of the West’ in The Wizard of Oz.

The term Nurse Ratched became part of the English language as a metaphor for a cruel, bureaucratic nurse who goes strictly by the book.

The role won her the Best Actress Oscar at the Academy Awards in 1976, as well as a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award.

The movie, based on the best-selling novel by Ken Kesey won four other Oscars: Best Picture; Best Actor, Jack Nicholson; Best Director Miloš Forman; and Best Screenplay.

Wimpy Kid gets life for shooting his mom in the back of the head

Diary of a Wimpy Kid actor Ryan Grantham was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday for shooting his mother in the back of the head while she played the piano. He also confessed to plotting to assassinate Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The 24-year-old Canadian is best known for playing Rodney James in the 2010 movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and in the supernatural horror TV series Riverdale, which ran from 2017 to 2021.

The actor was jailed without the possibility of parole for the first 14 years after confessing to killing his mother, Barbara Waite, 64, in their Squamish, British Columbia home in 2020.

After the murder he covered her body with a sheet and went to bed. The next day he hung a rosary on his mother’s piano and arranged lit candles around her body. He then loaded his car with three guns, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping gear and directions to Rideau Cottage, where Trudeau lives in Ottawa.

He set out on the drive across Canada to Trudeau’s residence but turned around after a few hours with a plan to go on a mass-murdering spree at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C.

Instead, he drove to the the Vancouver Police Department and turned himself in.
