⬆️ Corey Thompson, aka ‘Tripple Beanz’ gunned down in broad daylight in Newark, New Jersey.
RAPPER MURDERS
They write about violence with words of deadly resonance, catchy beats full of heat. They are poets of the street.
Rapper JayDaYoungan and his father were sitting on the front lawn outside their Louisiana home when a black truck pulled up and three gunmen jumped out.
The musician was shot eight times. With blood pouring from his wounds he tried to run inside the house but was gunned down by two more shooters.
The father, who was shot twice in the arm, fired back with his own gun as the outlaws sped away. His son was rushed to hospital but died in surgery.
The rapper, whose real name was Javorius Scott, was just 24.
His murder was the latest in a homicide rate among rappers that is more than 30 times higher than any other music genre.
The reasons include home environment and the ‘survive-or-die’ culture of many rappers, drug use, criminal gang activity, and a callous disregard for their wellbeing by hip hop record producers.
Many of the murders go unsolved, including the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, the 1997 murder of the Notorious B.I.G., and the 1999 murder of Big L.
