Monstrous is a 2022 movie starring Christina Ricci, who, with her seven-year-old son start a new life in a remote house by a lake to flee her abusive ex-husband. Mother and son are soon threatened by the presence of what she believes is a monster in the lake. People in the town and at her work think she’s crazy — and she may well be as she tries to escape the guilt of a tragic incident in her past.
