SHARKS LURKING

Maneaters waiting for the summer crowd

WATCH OUT FOR THAT 16-FOOTER

Cape Cod beachgoers had better be on their toes this summer.

Four great white sharks have been spotted off the Long Island and New Jersey coastlines on their way to the American summer vacation hotspot.

They include a 16-foot, 3,460-pound monster named Mary Lee.

Shark watchers have so far tagged 70 predators, apparently just a small portion of the maneaters out there.

“There are thousands of them on the East Coast right now,” said Chris Fischer, founder of the Ocearch research foundation.

One of the largest sharks tagged by Osearch was a colossal 17-foot female great white named Nukumi, who decided to give Cape Cod a miss this summer and headed for Nova Scotia waters.

  1. YIKES! — Just like Jaws! One of my all-time favorite movies even though it scared the hell out of me. After all, eaten alive by a man eating fish, what a gruesome way to go!

  2. Yep, all of that. Sadly, Robert Shaw died three years after the movie, of a heart attack at 51.
