MAGE!

In another Kentucky Derby upset, dark-horse Mage won Saturday’s $3-million super race in only his fourth start.

The surprise victory, coming from the middle of the 19-horse pack down the stretch, wasn’t as shocking as last year’s win by 80-1 long-shot Rich Strike, but a lot of bettors won big.

Starting from the 8th post, the 3-year-old colt snatched his second career win to beat Two Phil’s and win the 149th running of the mile-and-a-quarter Derby, the first race in the Triple Crown championship series.

Jockey Javier Castellano scored his second career win, and trainer Gustavo Delgado his first Derby victory.

The favorite Angel of Empire was third.
