‘Find your bliss’
Joseph Campbell’s Sacred Place.
To hell with the war pigs* determined to destroy this planet. Timeout for some mental and spiritual R&R. And Joseph Campbell, writer, philosopher, religious scholar and mythologist is the man to provide it.
“Find your bliss, a place of creative incubation,” says Joseph Campbell in his conversations on cultural and religious mythologies with journalist Bill Moyers.
Campbell’s insight and perception still make for powerful advice on dealing with stress and the way we live — and, the ‘need for God.’
“God is a thought,” Campbell says. “God is an idea, but its reference is to something that transcends all thinking. He’s beyond being, beyond the category of being or nonbeing.”
The extraordinary milestone series was released on PBS a year after Campbell died, on October 30, 1987. He was 83.
Joseph Campbell Sacred Place. The six episodes of The Power of Myth — The Hero’s Adventure, The Message of the Myth, The First Storytellers, Sacrifice and Bliss, Love and the Goddess, and Masks of Eternity — along with the complete transcripts are available HERE.
