THE JOY OF REGGAE
The sad death Tuesday of Jo Mersa Marley, 31, grandson of Reggae legend Bob Marley, brought to mind this New York street scene where a stylish woman in a neatly-tailored suit on her way to or from work joined in a singalong with Reggae street musicians.
Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 36. He had 11 children, including Jo Mersa’s father, Stephen.
Jo, who reportedly died from an asthma attack, was born in Jamaica and released two EP’s, Comfortable in 2014 and Eternal in 2021. He also appeared on a track on Morgan Heritage’s Grammy-winning album Strictly Roots in 2015.
