If this doesn’t perk you up, nothing will:
BIO NOTES: John Geils was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. His father was a jazz fan and John grew up listening to albums by Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie.
He listened to blues singers Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf on the radio and learned to play Miles Davis music on the trumpet and drums.
The J. Geils band released eleven albums between 1970 and 1985. When they broke up, J. Geils put down the guitar to race cars, particularly Italian sports cars.
He opened KTR Motorsports, a classic automobile restoration shop in Ayer, Massachusetts, to service and repair vintage sports cars such as Ferrari and Maserati.
