First female trainer wins Belmont
Jena Antonucci became the first female trainer in the 155-year history of the Belmont Stakes to win the final jewel of the Triple Crown.
Her horse, Arcangelo, a lightly raced 3-year-old colt who had only one previous victory, beat a field of seasoned champions to win after a stretch duel with favorite Forte.

The historic first in thoroughbred horse racing came on the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s record-setting Triple Crown victory in the Belmont.
Jockey Javier Castellano, who also rode Mage to victory in the Kentucky Derby in May, won his first Belmont.

The order of finish in the 155th Belmont Stakes:

2. Forte
3. Tapit Trice
4. Angel of Empire
