Lisa Marie inconsolable

Battling alcohol and drug problems and the scars of Scientology, Elvis Presley’s 27-year-old grandson killed himself with a shotgun. He was the only son of Lisa Marie Presley.

The body of Benjamin Keough was found Sunday in his mother’s estate in the city of Calabasas, 30 miles west of Los Angeles. Lisa Marie was not there at the time.

Neighbors said people were partying in the house and they heard screams around 3.30 a.m.

Benjamin’s girlfriend, Diana Pinto, a production coordinator at Fox, was heard to scream at Ben, “Don’t do it!” Neighbors said cops came to the residence around 6 a.m.

The young man had locked himself in the bathroom, put the barrel of the shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. An autopsy corrected earlier reports that he had shot himself in the chest.

Elvis’s daughter Lisa Marie “is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated,” her manager said. “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”

Scientology messed with his head

Ben, who was in rehab recently for alcohol and drug problems, carried an even heavier burden. His father, Lisa Marie’s first husband musician Danny Keough, is a Scientologist and raised Ben and his sisters in that faith. Ben finally broke away from it, calling it “fucked up” — but the scars apparently stayed with him.

Lisa Marie “is trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins Finley and Harper, and her oldest daughter Riley,” her manager said.

Benjamin looked just like Elvis. Lisa Marie called the resemblance “uncanny.” The young man kept out of the spotlight as he pursued his own career as a musician.
