The remaining portion of the collapsed condo building was brought down by controlled explosives Sunday night.
Authorities said it cleared the way for rescuers to continue their search Monday for any possible survivors.
The death toll so far is 28 with 117 still missing. The chance of finding any former residents still alive is remote.
Demolition of the Surfside building was also a precaution to prevent it from becoming a catapult of flying debris when Topical Storm Elsa hits Florida this week.
Strategically rigged charges were set off at 10:30 p.m. in a gruesome Fourth of July explosion that reduced the building to a heap of rubble.
