As America is torn apart with violent riots, needless deaths and senseless destruction in the name of race, let us not forget the true heroes of the past who gave their lives for us — on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men’s souls will be shaken with the violences of war.
They fight to end the conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good will among all people. They yearn for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.
Some will never return.

Look at the faces of these brave young men — many of them going to their death — and ask yourselves: Why do I shame their memory and their ultimate sacrifice with senseless violence? They fought and died for “tolerance and good will among all people.” Honor that and live by that code.
The ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of others. There are no truer Heroes.
It puts to shame the looters and the lowlife running rampant in the streets today.
So Mitch, the only empathy you feel is for the 10’s of thousands who either waded or parachuted on to Normandy? You shake my soul, Mitch. Tell me something Mitch . . . what if George Floyd, you know, the black man we watched get lynched in 2020 by a bad cop on a dozen cameras for over 8 minutes, the last 2 of which he was dead . . . Mitch, what if George Floyd were white?

The post wasn’t about George Floyd’s brutal death, I was criticizing the looters and the thugs, whose actions actually dishonor George Floyd’s death — none of which should stop us from honoring real heroes, the guys who fought and died on this day in 1944.
