Charles the first and second
Bill or George or Sue, anything but Charles, I still hate that name! (With apologies to Johnny Cash’s ‘A Boy Named Sue’ songwriter Shel Silverstein.)
For a long time, Prince Charles had nightmares about one day being named King Charles III. Merrie Olde England was more like Bloody Olde England when his two namesakes ruled the land.

⬆️ KING CHARLES I (1625-1649) led the country into a civil war and is the only English monarch to be executed.

⬆️ His son, KING CHARLES II (1660-1685), spent several years in exile after his father’s beheading, all the while fathering numerous children with his many mistresses.
NOW 73-YEAR-OLD PRINCE CHARLES…

…IS KING CHARLES III

‘What do I do now?!’
But for now and always, Elizabeth was one good Queen.
