Can The Gray Man Save Netflix?

HUGE SUMMER GAMBLE

Netflix has been hemorrhaging subscribers and money these past months and is gambling it all on a $200-million manhunt thriller that is the streaming company’s costliest movie ever.

From the Russo Brothers who made The Avengers and Captain America movie series, the film will be screened in select theaters starting July 15 and show up on Netflix July 22.

Netflix desperately needs a hit after disastrous losses and layoffs. Company shares took a deep plunge earlier this month.

Can Gray Man save Netflix?

The Gray Man is the story of a violent manhunt across several countries in Europe for secret CIA information obtained by former CIA hitman Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) that his former colleague, psychopath Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), plus a horde of assassins will do anything to get. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has Gentry’s back.

The film was mostly shot in France and the Czech Republic and is based on a novel by best-selling author Mark Greaney, who also collaborated on Tom Clancy’s books before Clancy’s death in 2013, and continued the Jack Ryan character after Clancy died.
