Oroville tells federal government to shove it

The former Gold Rush town in northern California has declared itself an independent republic and will henceforth refuse to obey “unconstitutional” federal and state vaccine and mask mandates.

The town of 20,000 is anticipating that its revolutionary Declaration of Independence will attract a new influx — the Great California Freedom Rush — and boost the mandate-hobbled economy.

Oroville City Council voted 6-1 to pass the resolution rejecting enforcement of all coronavirus rules and orders that have shuttered businesses, closed schools and taken a heavy toll on the economy.

THERE’S STILL GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS

Oroville was one of the first gold mining sites in the state during the California Gold Rush of the early 1850s, luring thousands of prospectors to the area.
