Turner Classic Movies presented a tribute to Elvis Presley on Sunday night to commemorate his birthday, January 8, 1935.

TCM showed two back-to-back two-hour documentaries, Elvis: That’s The Way It is, a 1970 look at behind the scenes rehearsals and his first show in Las Vegas, and Elvis On Tour from 1972.

These two clips don’t do justice to the entire presentation — they are just a glimpse of the masterful voice, the energy and the charisma of one of the greatest — if not the greatest performers of all time.

Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42.
